A little under two years ago I got the chance to put a band together to fill a recently vacated slot on a Saturday night in November at the Róisín Dúbh. A couple of quick phone calls later and the band was formed. I called it John Conneely Inc on a whim but little did I know that the “Inc” element would become a main feature of the band.
Since then the Saturdays have become Sundays. The 6 piece band has grown to 13 at it’s biggest. Our 10:30pm start time has become Midnight to 2am and our little Sunday session has become an opportunity for me to get to play with some of the finest musicians and human beings I could hope to meet. I have tried to keep the line up changing as much as possible for every show and I have been extremely fortunate to play alongside some amazing musicians.
Last summer, with the help of Liam King, I recorded two consecutive Sundays with different line ups. This recording is a selection of songs from those two nights. The good folks who contributed to this recording are as follows: Mark Sullivan, Ciarán Kelly, Eoin McCann, Maciek, Xavi Gomis, Josh Johnston, Barbara Vulso, Bertrand Huve, Danny Healy, John O Dwyer, Liam King, Ollie L, all the staff at the RD and most importantly, all of the crazy beautiful Galwegians who make our Sunday nights so very special!
