Happy Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians!

It’s the month of fairy lights and frozen sunshine, diamond dust and corridors of light. The city has been transformed in the past few weeks and is alive with the festive spirit and as always she has a veritable feast of events taking place over the month of December. There are theatre shows and coffee tastings and lots of live music!  This is just a small sample of what’s on today…

Coffeewerk + Press are doing their monthly Cupping Session at 2pm on Quay Street for all of you coffee addicts out there 🙂 There is a Poetry Slam is on in Péarla na Mara from 5 pm (sign up starts at 4.30pm and is open to everyone) At 6:30pm the KoKo Ensemble with Szymon & friends will be taking place in IL Vicolo restaurant. The last NOCTURNE of 2016 features Richie Egan and takes place in Loam at 7 pm or if you’re across the river get on down to Kelvin, Noriana and Noelie play the Salthouse sessions (kick off at 7 pm also). The Laughter Gaff is on in Monroes from 8pm and Greg Cotter & Mary Flanagan will be hosting the Folk/Country session in the Crane Bar at 9 pm. Steven Sharpe & Trass Bee will be giving a master-class in patience and efficiency at the Super Open Mic downstairs in the Róisin Dúbh from 9:30 and the Atlantic Rhythm Section Featuring Justin McCarthy and Gerry Hanbery will be rocking Tigh Neachtains from around 9:30 pm. The Ciaran Storey, Karl Klews and the Superfreaks will be kicking off in the Dáil Bar at 10 pm and we will be on stage in the Róisín Dúbh from 12 midnight.

With Blues’Vember in the bag the practice of questionable nomenclature continues with our latest great idea. To honour their memory, during Rem’Cember we will play one song from a musical legend that left us in 2016 starting tonight with Mr David Bowie. Joining me tonight: Barbara Vulso, vocals. Mark Sullivan, guitar. Maciek, harmonica, Eoin McCann, bass. Bertrand Huvé, sax. Michael Corbett, keys. Ciarán Kelly, drums
